# Merge two videos free, no upload
Cutshed Merge clips is a free browser tool that runs on this device. Concatenate two video clips into a single MP4.
Pick two files. They are scaled into a 640×360 frame, set to 24 fps, and concatenated in the order you chose them.
## How to use it
- Both clips need an audio track. A silent screen recording fails the concat because the filter expects stereo on both sides. Run a clip with sound, or add a bed before you merge. Mute the result afterwards if the joined file should be silent.
- Different sizes are padded to 640×360 with bars, not stretched. Frame rates are converted to 24. Audio is resampled to 44.1 kHz stereo. The join is a new encode, so a cut between two long masters takes a while.
- Two files is the limit for one pass. Join a third by merging the result with the next clip.
## Tips
- Put the clips in the right order in the file picker. The first file plays first.
- Match the look before you merge if you can. The page does not color-match.
- A hard cut in the audio will click if both files end on a transient. Trim a little air onto each end first.
## FAQ
- Why do both clips need audio?
The concat filter used here joins one video stream and one audio stream. A missing audio track has nothing to join. Mute video is the tool that removes sound, and it runs after the merge.
- Can I merge more than two?
Two at a time. Merge the output with the next file.
- What resolution is the output?
640×360. It is a joining step, not a master export. Scale up elsewhere only if you accept the softness.
## License
Encoding uses the single-thread ffmpeg.wasm build shipped with Cutshed. The JavaScript wrapper (@ffmpeg/ffmpeg and @ffmpeg/util) is MIT. The core binary is GPL-2.0-or-later because the build enables GPL components, including libx264, libmp3lame, libvorbis, and native AAC and FLAC. That license covers the encoder, not your recording.
