Cutshed vs VEED
Last checked October 2026.
What we can say from the official page
Cutshed publishes 26 free browser tools. Vocal removal, audio and video trims, compression, format conversion, background removal, upscaling, subtitles, and a timeline editor run in the tab. The file you open in those tools is not uploaded. There is no account and no watermark on a free export. Studio is separate, and it is the only paid part of the site. A Studio job sends the prompt, and a reference only when the model accepts one, to the provider. The credit price is the provider cost times 1.5, rounded up to the nearest 5. Packs are $5 for 400, $10 for 850, and $25 for 2,250. Credits stay on the account until they are spent. A failed or blocked generation puts them back. An unused pack is not refunded, except where the law requires it. The default clip, a 5-second Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p, is 30 credits. Seedance 2.5 at 720p is 175 credits for 5 seconds, which is $2.19 on the $5 pack, $2.06 on the $10 pack, $1.94 on the $25 pack.
VEED is a browser video editor aimed at subtitles, stock, and AI tools. Its pricing page is the place to read current plans. On 10 October 2026 that page did not expose a dollar amount in the HTML we could read, so this comparison does not quote a VEED price. Third-party write-ups disagree with each other, and they are not used here. Check veed.io/pricing before you decide on cost.
Because the price was not readable, this page also does not claim a VEED watermark rule or a 720p cap. Those details are widely repeated elsewhere. They were not in the page text we fetched, so they are left out on purpose.
Where VEED is the stronger editor
VEED is built as a hosted editor for captions, stock footage, and AI helpers around a timeline. If that cloud workflow is what you want, VEED is further along than Cutshed’s local editor. Cutshed can transcribe with Whisper tiny and export SRT or VTT, and the editor can burn those cues into a timeline, but it does not offer a stock library, brand kit, or a team space.
Cutshed is the stronger choice when the recording cannot be uploaded, when you want the utilities around the editor (vocal split, compressor, GIF, thumbnail, background removal) in the same site, and when the editor itself has to stay free with no account. You pay only if you open Studio.
How to choose
Open VEED if you want a hosted subtitle-and-stock editor and you are willing to read the live price on their site. Open Cutshed if the file should stay on the machine and a plain timeline, plus the free tools, is enough. The two can sit next to each other: cut the sensitive interview locally, then move a clip you are allowed to upload into VEED for the stock and the caption styling.
Rights do not change with the host. A caption tool does not clear a song. Cutshed says that on the tool pages. VEED’s own terms are the ones that apply if you upload there.
If you only need one operation, Cutshed is often the shorter path. Video to MP3, a GIF, a mute, a crop to 9:16, or a timing shift on an SRT you already have are separate pages. They do not open a project, and they do not ask you to pick a VEED plan. VEED still wins when the edit is a hosted caption-and-stock job rather than a single file operation.

FAQ
How much does VEED cost?
We are not quoting a number. The official pricing page did not show a dollar amount in the copy we could read on 10 October 2026. Use veed.io/pricing.
Does Cutshed add a watermark the way some online editors do?
No. Free Cutshed exports are not watermarked. This page does not describe VEED’s watermark rules, because we did not read them on the pricing page.
Can I subtitle a video without uploading it?
Yes, on Cutshed. The subtitle tool and the editor’s auto-generate path run Whisper tiny in the browser. VEED’s caption tools run as part of its hosted editor.
