Best Overall Mic for Voiceovers
Samson Q2U USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone Recording and Podcasting Pack

Samson Q2U USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone Recording and Podcasting Pack

Buy on Amazon: Samson Q2U USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone Recording and Podcasting Pack

A voiceover mic has one job: keep the voice close and the room out of the take. These four Amazon listings are USB microphones, and three of them also list an XLR jack. Every fact below is the listing title or a bullet. This page does not add a weight, a frequency chart, or a price.

After the take, the file still has to be cleaned and cut. The Noise remover turns down steady hiss, Video to MP3 pulls the voice out of a clip, and the Video splitter chops a long read into equal parts. Studio is the separate paid page if you want a generated voice instead of a recorded one.

Best Overall Mic for Voiceovers

Samson Q2U USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone Recording and Podcasting Pack

Samson Q2U USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone Recording and Podcasting Pack

The Samson Q2U listing is a dynamic handheld with XLR and USB-C, and it says the mic plugs directly into a computer with a USB-C port. The pack lists a desktop stand, an extension, a clip, a windscreen, a USB-C cable, and an XLR cable. That is the whole path from a desk to a file without a separate interface.

  • Dynamic handheld microphone with XLR and USB-C
  • Plugs directly into any computer with a USB-C interface
  • Includes Tripod Desktop Stand, Tripod Extension, Mic Clip, Windscreen, USB-C Cable and XLR Cable
  • Q2U USB-C Microphone

Most Flexible Mic for Voiceovers

Logitech Creators Blue Yeti USB Microphone

Logitech Creators Blue Yeti USB Microphone

The Blue Yeti listing describes a three-capsule USB mic and four pickup patterns: cardioid, omni, bidirectional, and stereo. The same bullets list headphone volume, pattern selection, mute, and gain on the mic, plus a desktop stand. It is the pick when one mic has to cover a single voice and a two-person desk.

  • Custom three-capsule array: This professional USB mic produces clear, powerful, broadcast-quality sound for YouTube videos, Twitch game streaming, podcasting, Zoom meetings, music recording and more
  • Blue VO!CE software: Elevate your streamings and recordings with clear broadcast vocal sound and entertain your audience with enhanced effects, advanced modulation and HD audio samples
  • Four pickup patterns: Flexible cardioid, omni, bidirectional, and stereo pickup patterns allow you to record in ways that would normally require multiple mics, for vocals, instruments and podcasts
  • Onboard audio controls: Headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and mic gain put you in charge of every level of the audio recording and streaming process
  • Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
  • Plug 'n Play: Set up the computer microphone in seconds with the included desktop stand or connect directly to a mic stand or boom arm and instantly start recording and streaming on Mac or PC

Best Premium Mic for Voiceovers

Shure MV7+ USB-C & XLR Podcast Dynamic Microphone

Shure MV7+ USB-C & XLR Podcast Dynamic Microphone

The Shure MV7+ listing is the automatic one in this set. It names Auto Level Mode, a real-time denoiser, and reverb modes called Plate, Hall, and Studio. It also lists USB-C and XLR, a color LED touch panel with tap-to-mute, a foam windscreen, and a 3m USB-C cable. The listing does not call it an AI mic. Those automatic controls are what the page actually says.

  • CUSTOMIZABLE LED TOUCH PANEL: Personalize your setup with a full-color LED touch panel featuring 16.8 million color options, real-time level monitoring, and tap-to-mute control—ideal for livestreams, video calls, and on-camera podcasting
  • AUTO LEVEL & REAL-TIME DENOISING: Auto Level Mode intelligently adjusts gain based on distance and volume, while the real-time denoiser reduces background noise, helping you maintain consistent, clean audio in any recording environment
  • BUILT-IN REVERB EFFECTS: Add depth and character to your sound with integrated reverb modes, including Plate, Hall, and Studio settings, designed for enhancing vocals, voiceovers, and recordings with a polished, professional finish
  • USB-C & XLR FLEXIBILITY: Dual USB-C and XLR outputs provide seamless compatibility with laptops, mobile devices, audio interfaces, and mixers, making it easy to transition from plug-and-play setups to fully customized studio configurations
  • Foam Windscreen, 3m USB-C to USB-C Cable

Best Budget Handheld Mic for Voiceovers

Audio-Technica ATR2100X-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

Audio-Technica ATR2100X-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

The Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB listing is another handheld dynamic with USB-C and XLR. It lists a headphone jack with a volume dial, a cardioid pattern, a 24-bit converter up to 192 kHz, a folding tripod desk stand, and three cables: USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to USB-A, and XLR. The page does not print a price, so this guide does not rank it by cost, only by what the listing includes.

  • Handheld dynamic microphone with USB-C digital output and XLR analog output. Durable metal construction for long-lasting performance with smooth, extended frequency response perfect for podcasting, home studio recording, field recording, voiceover, and other content creation applications
  • Usb output connects to your computer (Windows and Mac) for digital recording, While the XLR output connects with your sound system’s conventional microphone input for use in live performance. On/off switch functions for both USB and analog operation
  • Built-in headphone jack lets you monitor directly from the microphone with dial on the bottom that allows you to easily adjust headphone volume
  • Cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of unwanted sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of desired sound source. Low-mass diaphragm provides excellent frequency response. High-quality a/D converter with 24-bit, up to 192 kHz sampling rate
  • Sturdy tripod desk stand with folding legs is easy to set up and transport. Threaded stand clamp attaches securely to the supplied tripod or to a conventional microphone stand. Also includes three cables: USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to USB-A, and XLRF to XLRM
  • Microphone, Stand clamp for 5/8"-27 threaded stands, tripod desk stand, 2 m (6.6') USB-C to USB-C cable (USB On-The-Go Compliant), 2 m (6.6') USB-C to USB-A cable, 3 m (9.8') XLRF to XLRM cable

USB, XLR, or both

Three of these listings name both a USB output and an XLR output: the Q2U, the MV7+, and the ATR2100x. The Blue Yeti listing describes a USB plug-and-play setup and does not mention XLR in the bullets we saved. Start on USB if the computer is the recorder. Use the XLR jack later if you already have an interface.

The Yeti is the only one here whose bullets list four patterns. The ATR2100x bullet says cardioid. The Q2U bullet says dynamic handheld and does not name a pattern. Do not assume the others match the Yeti.

What this guide will not tell you

It will not tell you which mic sounds warmer. That is not written on these pages. Record a sentence on the mic you already have, then run it through the Vocal remover only if you need the voice pulled off a music bed. A voiceover recorded dry does not need that split.

Do this part free in Cutshed

  • Noise remover

Turns down steady hiss and room noise on a voice recording, in the browser.

  • Vocal remover

Splits a mixed song into a vocal stem and an instrumental. Skip it for a dry voiceover.

  • Video to MP3

Pulls the audio out of a video take so you can edit the voice on its own.

  • Video splitter

Cuts a long recording into equal parts, such as 14.9 seconds, without uploading it.

  • Studio

The paid page. A generated voice or a generated clip is sent to the model. The free tools above are not.

FAQ

Does the Samson Q2U need an audio interface?

The listing says it plugs directly into a computer with USB-C, and the pack includes a USB-C cable. It also includes an XLR cable if you later plug it into an interface.

Which of these listings mentions noise reduction on the mic?

The Shure MV7+ bullets name a real-time denoiser and Auto Level Mode. The other three listings do not say that. Steady noise on a finished file can still go through the Noise remover on this site.
